This experiment compares music recommendation systems that generate
playlists.
For example, Pandora.com and iTunes' Genius can recommend a playlist of songs based on similarity to a
seed song.
You can help us to find out what are the important factors to consider when making a playlist and which system makes the best playlists.
Once you start the experiment, you will hear the
"seed song" start to play.
This song will be the inspiration for the playlists that follow.
Please listen to the seed song carefully.
Next, you will be presented with two playlists, each containing 30-second clips from 5 songs.
These playlists are generated by finding songs that are similar to the seed song.
Please listen to the songs from the two playlists in any order and decide which playlist you prefer. If you are unfamiliar with a genre, trust your instincts, or mark neutral answers.
Mark any songs that you think seem out of place in the playlist.
After you've voted on your preferred playlist, you will be asked to evaluate the
factors that influenced your choice.
Please indicate which influences were more evident in the two playlists.
Finally, click the "Next Song" button to register your votes and move onto the next trial.
Your results will be saved and you may quit at any time.
we will never spam you. email will only be used to inform you of the results of the experiment
